Windermere Care Centre

Despite being equipped with air conditioning, residents still experienced high temperatures during peak solar times. The southern units especially were impacted by these high temperatures.

Overview

A Dual Reflective Film (DR150) was installed to the Southern wing on all 15 floors to address the heat issue. This film reduces glare, provides privacy, and significantly lowers the heat, making the units more comfortable for residents.

Solution

Improved Comfort and Temperature Reduction: The installation of the film led to a 3 degree difference floor wide.

  • Reduced A/C Load: The film also helped decrease the overall load on the air conditioning system, making it more efficient and effective.

Results

Windermere Care Centre, home to approximately 210 seniors, is a 15-story building that faced significant heat challenges due to southern solar exposure. They are equipped with an A/C and Chiller that turns on automatically when the the night temperature reached 14 degrees.
